Aims, contents and method of the course
Reading of (parts of) the Babylonian Erra epic
Assessment and permitted materials
The text will be read in class. Students are required to prepare for this and to actively participate during class. Participation is mandatory, three classes can be missed. In addition, students will take two written exams - one at mid-term, one at the end of the term - on texts that will already have been read in class at these points. Students will also give short presentations on pertinent topics.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Presence (3 absences are admissible), prior preparation of the text, active participation in class and in discussions as well as partaking in reading the text 50%; written exam on texts read: 30%; oral presentation: 20%.
