Aims, contents and method of the course

The basic grammatical knowledge acquired is expanded and consolidated. In addition to modal verbs, subordinate clauses and conjunctions are dealt with. Particular attention will be paid to verbal derivation.

The course aims at a basic understanding of grammatical structures and the ability to put them into practice. Students activate the information conveyed in the lecture through exercises to be completed both in and out of class. The course works with digital materials written by the course instructor and available online.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance and participation are prerequisites for successful completion of the course. Students are expected to prepare dialogues and texts in time.

The date of the final test (written + oral) is the last unit of the course. No aids (dictionaries, transcripts, grammars, etc.) are allowed in the final test.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students are expected to have a sufficient knowledge of German and English as well as a basic interest in linguistic questions.

For the evaluation of the final test the following applies: 1>=90%; 2>=77,5; 3>=65%; 4>=50%.

For the overall assessment: final test=50%; cooperation, attendance=50%.

The examination material comprises all practical and theoretical contents of the course.
