Aims, contents and method of the course

Materials from different sources are used and made available via moodle: articles, excerpts from books, videos, audio texts...
Improvement of pronunciation, expansion of vocabulary and practical application of the learned grammar by means of oral exercises and free discussions on general and current topics. Participants should be encouraged and enabled to speak freely on various selected topics and to conduct dialogues. The aim of the event is to strengthen communicative skills in the Arabic language and to promote listening comprehension.

Assessment and permitted materials

- Active and continuous cooperation during the semester including preparatory work and homework (50% of the overall grade)
- Oral final exam at the end of the semester (50% of the total grade)
Aids are not allowed.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Presence is a prerequisite for a positive note. Up to 3x missing is allowed.
The grade is composed of:
50% preparation and cooperation in class
50% oral final exam
91 - 100 = Very good
81 - 90 = Good
71 - 80 = Satisfactory
61 - 70 = Sufficient
60 and > 60 = Not enough

Semester material: handouts, and texts (videos and reading texts) on the topics covered in the VO (see above).
