Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims to develop students’ oral communication skills in Turkish in various academic settings. The participants will be encouraged to form critical opinions on academic texts and express them orally. Topics such as making presentations, participating in discussions, asking questions, verbalizing data as well as fluency and pronunciation will be addressed.

The assignments and in-class activities will consist of reading academic texts and discussing them.

Please not that due to changing Covid restrictions the course may take place online.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students are expected to attend classes regularly (maximum 3 times absence is excused) and actively participate in in-class activities and discussions. Students will be required to prepare regular short assignments and presentations based on readings or own research.

Dictionaries may be used during class.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students should be able to read, comprehend and comment on texts in Turkish. The course work is continuously assessed based on the students’ regular attendance, class participation and positive assessment of assignments.

Examination topics

The assignments will follow the course content.
