Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The major objective of this course is introducing students to reading easy Hindi texts and improving their listening and speaking skills. The class meetings are divided into formal lecturing, close reading, presentation and discussion. Besides close reading of some stories and plays, students will perform a small one act play at the end of the semester.
Regular attendance, active participation in the discussion and performance, and home assignments are strictly demanded from every participant. The class will be conducted in Hindi and therefore a very good knowledge of Hindi is expected from the students. Method of assessment: Text preparation, reading and translation (30%), oral presentation (20%), an essay of 1, 500 words (in Hindi) on a given topic at the end of the semester (25%) and, regular attendance, class participation and home works (25%)
