Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

With the aim to learn the parts of speech in the Tibetan language, improve reading skills, and build vocabulary, we will read the biographies of three famous crazy yogis of Tibet in this course: 'Brug smyon, Gtsang smyon, and Dbus smyon. Grammar, reading, and vocabulary are going to be the objectives to achieve in this course.

Assessment and permitted materials

Reading examination 50%
Oral examination 50%

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Knowledge of the parts of speech in Tibetan grammar and basic fluency in written and spoken Tibetan. Assessment is based on active and regular attendance.

Examination topics

Reading a paragraph from the life story of one of the three crazy yogis of Tibet, explain the meaning, and identify the parts of speech involved in the paragraph.

Reading list

The life stories of 'Brug smyon Kun dga' legs pa, Gtsang smyon he ru ka, and Dbus smyon kun dga' bzang po, compiled by the lecturer. The compiled text will be available in the classroom.
