Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The objective of this class is to enable students, under expert guidance and supervision, to read and analyze representative articles, stories and films that represent life in Indian cities. Each class will focus on an Indian city and will include a story, essay and a film related to it. Based in the text and the film selected for a class, we will focus on the description of that particular Indian city, life, culture, problems and its special features. Moreover, every class will start with an introductory presentation of the city prepared by a student in turn.
Regular attendance, presentation, active participation, text preparation, discussion in the class and home assignments are strictly demanded from every participant. The class will be conducted in Hindi and therefore interested students must have a very good knowledge of Hindi grammar.
Reading text and other material will uploaded in the moodle platform.

Method of assessment: text preparation and written exam 40%, introductory oral presentation of a city 10%, an essay of 1, 500 words (in Hindi) on a given topic at the end of the semester (25%) and, regular attendance, participation and home works (25%)
