Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

From the bronze age civilisation of the Indus to twentieth-century modernism, the architecture of South Asia has a rich and varied history. In this course, we survey five thousand years of built history from the sub-continent. This course will achieve two objectives: the lectures in the history of architecture will also acquaint the student with the history of South Asia. The exams are usually in the form of identifying visual material, and writing short notes on various sites and themes explored in the course.
