Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course is aimed at students who are preparing or writing a doctoral thesis in Modern South Asian Studies. It is intended to provide an opportunity to present outlines of research projects and discuss conceptual, methodological and theoretical issues. In particular, current debates in Modern South Asian Studies will be addressed, including a critical reading of recent publications. Literature for reading is selected on the basis of the individual projects.
Assessment and permitted materials
It is expected that all participants present their project orally and submit a written elaboration of the concept or individual chapters of the thesis at the end of the semester. In addition to regular and active participation, these tasks are the basis of the assessment.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Regular participation and collaboration 30%, project presentation with thesis paper 30%, written work 40%.
