Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
African and African diaspora writers have created new images and visions of themselves and the diaspora worldwide in the 21st century. In their writing process, they acquire and create new and active social and cultural identities. There are however increasing differences between the works of authors from the diaspora and those of authors in Africa. These differences that have become visible between contemporary Anglophone African diaspora literature and African literature written in Africa are to be analyzed and interrogated by the students. In addition to working out differences, special attention should also be paid to uncovering similarities in the two literary strands.
Assessment and permitted materials
Exam: Writing a seminar paper (15 pages).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Very good English reading skills are expected. Missing or inadequate language skills do not exclude successful participation in the seminar, but considerably limit the opportunities for academic examination of Anglophone literature.
Examination topics
Examination materials are the content of KU, script, and secondary literature.
