Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course builds on the grammatical structures taught in the first semester. These will be further developed and complemented. In the course of the class you will read first simple texts written in isiZulu.

Students will activate the knowledge gained in the lecture by doing exercises that have to be completed in class as well as outside the course hours. In addition to digital grammar drills, digitally prepared dialogues and texts are used to consolidate what has already been achieved and to work on new material. The course is designed as an integrated class, in which teacher and students work interactively together on new content.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance (3 times absence is tolerated) and participation are prerequisites for the successful completion of the course. At the end of the semester there is a final test (written + oral).

The 1st date of the final test (written + oral) takes place in the last unit of the course. The end-of-semester test will be held either online or on-site, depending on the situation.

No aids (dictionaries, transcripts, grammars, etc.) are allowed in the final test.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students are expected to have a sufficient knowledge of German and English as well as a basic interest in linguistic questions.

For the evaluation of the final test the following applies: 1>=90%; 2>=77,5%; 3>=65%; 4>=50%.

For the overall assessment: final test=50%; cooperation, attendance=50%.

Examination topics

The examination material includes all practical and theoretical contents of the course.
