Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the exercise Course is to create familiarity and comfort with the practical day to day use of Zulu, over and above the linguistic Knowledge gained through the Zulu Grammar Courses.

Active use of speech and consumption of zulu Content is the main method of instruction. The ultimate Goal is to increase the confidence of students with speaking and writing in Zulu.

The Content of the Course will be auxiliary to that which is covered in the Grammar Course. The additional Content will take the form of Zulu short stories, Music, movies and Pop culture. The introduction and consumption of this Content is aimed at sharpening both written and speaking skills.

The Zulu excercises Course is a fully participatory Course. Students are expected to engage with Course Content and class excercises. It is advised to prepare the lecture Content before the lecture, and to be up to date with the Course Content for the Zulu Grammar Course. The two Courses will operate in Tandem.

Assessment and permitted materials

The Course will use a continous assement Approach for the excercises, to ensure that students are Aware of their Level of proficiency at all times. This will include individual and Group orals, written literature Reviews, and short essays.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Regular attendance (3 times absence is tolerated) and participation are prerequisites for the successful completion of the course. At the end of the semester there is a final test (written + oral {speech}).

Students are expected to have a sufficient knowledge of German and English as well as be up to date with the Content of the Zulu Grammar Course.

Examination topics

The examination material includes all practical and theoretical contents of the course.
