Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will introduce the practice of research under the premise: Every language is unique. Linguistic expressions are the mirror of a society with its specific values and ideas.
Students will learn to reflect beyond habitual patterns, they will become familiar with different expectations and needs. They will further learn about the manifold structures of a grammatical construction, perceive tones as a distinguishing feature of grammatical functions as well as identify linguistic realities and learn to classify them into a grammatical scheme.

Assessment and permitted materials

A final exam at the end of the semester for BA and MA-students; In addition, MA students must (for the additional ECTS) write a short paper of one of the topics.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

No specific qualifications are required for participation at that course. However, advanced language skills (especially languages of other language families) would be an advantage. Active participation during the semester is expected.

The content that will be discussed during the semester along with the related literature.

Literature (print and audiovisual) will be announced during the semester in the accompanying Moodle course.
