Aims, contents and method of the course

- Deepening knowledge of historical, social and political contexts from a transregional perspective.
- Providing a differentiated view of Muslims, their history, culture and civilization.
- Acquisition of historical background information that led to the formation of religious doctrines, beliefs and world views in the Islamic world.
- Gaining insight into the rich and diverse Islamic intellectual history.

Method:
Lecture as well as close reading of texts on the different subjects followed by discussion and reflection on the studied material.
