Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims at improving the student's understanding of various issues related to governance with a focus on East Asia. In addition to the principal professor, a number of external experts will present lectures on their specific fields of governance research. Prior knowledge in theories of governance is expected.

Examination topics

Expect a heavy workload; readings will be at least one article/book chapter per class, in addition to short essays and an academic term paper of about 20 pages. The level is high and the course therefore best suited for PhD students and MA students who are close to graduation. The entire course is conducted in English, including essays and term papers. Date and time may vary; the core lectures will take place Tuesdays from 16:15-17:45 in the Seminarraum Ostasien (AKH-Campus). The number of participants is strictly limited; waiting list accessible via the University of Vienna e-learning platform.
