Aims, contents and method of the course

"Applied Geography of Japan" is an introductory course. The course does not only deal with geography, it also will bear upon society, art, culture and problems of modern Japan. The course shall impart basic knowledge on Japan.
The course will be supported by power point presentations, videos or films. Questions and discussions are welcome.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written test via e-learning platform at the end of the course. Evaluation with points-based system, where more than 50% are necessary to pass the test.
permitted auxiliary means: for non-german-speaking students dictonaries (not electronic ones, no cell phone apps) are allowed, after they have been shown to the examination supervisor.
If slips of paper, notes, cell phones, smart watches or other electronic devices are found near the candidate, it is treated as "cheating".

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

No special prior knowledge is necessary.
