Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

"Landeskunde Japans (Applied Geography of Japan)" is an introductory course. The course imparts basic knowledge on the geography of Japan in the broadest sense (including among others flora and fauna), and examines its relationship to society, art and culture. Additionally, the presentation of the individual regions and prefectures of Japan with their special features is an important part of the course.

The lecture consists classically of a lecture, supported by Power Point and occasionally other suitable audiovisual material. If it is possible within the allotted time, questions from students are welcome.

Assessment and permitted materials

Evaluation will consist of a written "open-book" course examination via the e-learning platform Moodle. The points-based system requires more than 55% to pass. The dates for the course examination will be announced via Moodle.
