Der erstmalige Besuch dieser prüfungsimmanenten Lehrveranstaltung zählt bereits als Prüfungsantritt, d.h. die Lehrveranstaltung wird benotet! Wenn ein Abbruch während der ersten drei LV-Einheiten stattfindet und eine Abmeldung erfolgt ist, wird in der Regel von einer Benotung abgesehen.
Wer in der ersten Einheit unentschuldigt fehlt, wird automatisch abgemeldet! Eine Entschuldigung mit Angabe einer entsprechenden Begründung muss schriftlich per Mail an die LV-Leitung erfolgen.

Attendance on the first day of the course counts as your first examination attempt, and the course will be graded accordingly. If you withdraw from the course within the first three sessions and formally deregister, grading is typically waived. Unexcused absence from the first session will result in automatic deregistration.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students are expected to acquire basic knowledge regarding the structure and functionality of the Korean language.
The most essential everyday language topics will be covered: greetings, housing, describing oneself, family or living situation, cultural information.

Practical application of the theoretically learned linguistic fundamentals will be achieved through the use of simple Korean texts, dialogues, role-plays, listening exercises, etc.

Assessment and permitted materials

The initial attendance in the course already counts as an examination attempt, meaning the course will be graded! If a withdrawal occurs during the first three course units and a deregistration has been made, grading is generally waived. Anyone who is absent without excuse in the first unit will be automatically deregistered.

"Active participation in the courses through attendance, homework assignments, and attending the tutorial sessions will be considered for grading.

2 written mid-term exams (tentatively on November 9th, November 30th)
1 written final exam (tentatively on January 25th)

All exams will be conducted on-site. No aids are allowed during exams.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Building on the theoretical foundations (see PUE Korean Theory 1), students are expected to develop practical language competence in terms of reading, understanding, speaking, and writing.

Attendance with a maximum of three absences and completing a minimum of 90% of homework assignments are prerequisites for completing the course.
Tests require a minimum score of 60% for a passing grade.
Homework assignments must be submitted on time.
Retakes will only be allowed with a medical certificate.

1st written midterm exam (20%), 2nd written midterm exam (30%)
1st written final exam (35%)
5 audio recordings (timely submission, each worth 3%, totaling 15%)

To receive a passing grade, a minimum of 60 points is required.
1 (excellent) 100-90 points
2 (good) 89-81 points
3 (satisfactory) 80-71 points
4 (sufficient) 70-60 points
5 (insufficient) 59-0 points
