Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Acquired knowledge from the 1st semester (incl. grammar and sentence structure of the Korean language) will be deepend through the application of various exercises. Further, the vocabulary will be expanded whilst reading and writing skills will be intensified.

Assessment and permitted materials

1) regular homework assignments
2) unannounced vocabulary tests
3) 3 written exams
Anticipated exam dates: 15. April, 20. May, 24. June
Details will be announced in class or on moodle.

*Anyone who is misses the first session (class) unexcused will be automatically deregistered from this course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance (max. 3 missed sessions), the submission of at least 90% of the assigned homework as well as the passing of the examinations are required in order to be considered for completion of this course.
An exam is considered as passed when at least 60% of the max. achievable points is obtained.
Once all above prerequisites are met the final grade will derive from the result of the passed exams with following weightings:

1. Test (20%, content of chapter 1~3)
2. Test (30%, content of chapter 1~7)
3. final exam (50% content of chapter 1~10)
Note: The percentage weighting in Moodle is non-relevant and purely technical.
Further: Each examination (test or final exam) can only be taken once per semester. This includes even the case where a test or exam is not passed (with at least 60% of the max. achievable points.)

A catch-up-examination is granted for medical or technical reasons. In the earlier case the submission of a medical certificate is required. For the later, the responsibility to report any technical issues holding back a student to take the online examination regularly lies with the student. The technical issue is to be reported to the lecturer immediately once discovered.

All catch-up-examinations will take place orally or on site in the presence of 2 lecturers.
