Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The objective of the course is to provide students with the advanced linguistic and cultural competencies required for effective and appropriate communication in a variety of contexts in modern Chinese. By engaging with the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Sinophone world, students will develop the requisite skills to act as proficient language and cultural mediators. Upon completion of the module, participants will have acquired the abilities required to engage in cross-cultural dialogue at a professional level, corresponding to GER Level C1.

The course is centered on the cultivation of transcultural competence through an examination of context-specific communicative scenarios in modern Chinese, coupled with a practice-oriented analysis. The course addresses both written and oral forms of communication. The objective of the winter term course is to develop skills in written communication. Preparation of requests, applications and dossiers tailored to specific contextual requirements.

The teaching methods employed include the following:
1. Practical exercises, which take the form of role-playing, simulations, and case studies. These are designed to facilitate the practice of real-life communication situations in a hands-on manner.
2. Analysis and reflection, which involves a collaborative analysis of communicative acts and reflection on intercultural differences and challenges.
3. Peer feedback, which is provided through group work and peer feedback. This is intended to promote collaborative learning processes and strengthen dialogue competence.
4. Independent study, which comprises in-depth reading and independent exploration of specific topics. This is supported by the provision of relevant materials.
