Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In this course, Chinese scientific texts on various topics are presented and students are instructed not only to translate scientific texts, but also to classify them under a larger topic complex, to analyse these texts, to present them in short - both written and oral - summaries and to discuss them. The aim of this course is to practise how to work with scientific questions, how to do research and how to work on corresponding Chinese texts in order to use them effectively when dealing with topics in written work - i.e. topics for seminar papers and Master's theses.
Assessment and permitted materials
Performance assessment is based on general participation as well as on oral and written presentations during the semester.
During the semester, there are two examinations / performance assessments on the content developed / in which everyone must take part.
The overall grade is made up of the two examinations - each account for 35% - as well as of a short presentation, of regular attendance, preparation and participation in class (30%).
Three unexcused absences will be tolerated.
However, participation in both examinations and a short presentation on a text/topic area is mandatory for a positive assessment.
