Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar addresses the question why and where a knowledge of the Chinese vocabulary in the Gender field is useful, and to which texts it can be applied.
Chinese gender concepts and gender stereotypes are introduced and compared to Western equivalents.
The seminar compares the use of gender terms in the People's Republic and in Taiwan and discusses differences and similarities.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participants are expected to acquire knowledge of relevant gender vocabulary in the German and in the Chinese languages, and to be able to identify gender methodology

Examination topics

Participants divide into small groups (2-3 students each). The small groups study, present (orally and in writing) exemplary text modules provided by the teacher. Key vocabulary is listed, the translation process analyzed.
