- give short presentations on aspects of their research (topic, rationale, key questions, sources, theories and methods, contributions, challenges and limitations, etc) in order to track progress and receive feedback regularly throughout the process of research design and implementation;
- consult and assess past examples of good practice (i.e.: recently completed Master’s theses on topics related to their own);
- submit and present a detailed research plan;
- undertake a peer review of another student’s work.Participants in the early stages of the research and writing process submit an exposé based on the content of the presentations and taking into account feedback from the instructor and other course participants. Those who have already started the writing process submit a preliminary draft of the introductory chapter (as discussed during the course and with the master's thesis supervisor). These can be written in English or in German.The research design is presented and discussed by another course participant (peer-reviewer) on the basis of the submitted exposé or chapter draft.
