Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The following areas will be covered: History and tradition; ideology and the leaders; political system; economy: basics; economic reforms; special economic zones; the leadership of Kim Jong-Un; unification.
Assessment and permitted materials
The final grade will be composed out of the results of two multiple-choice exams and will be weighted by an evaluation of attendance and in-class discussion activity.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students learn about the origins and current developments in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) as the source or object of actual or potential conflict in the East Asian region. This includes aspects such as economic development and social issues.
Examination topics
This is a VU, i.e. a lecture-type course with some limited interactive component.
