Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Positive grades (grade 4 or better) for all formal requirements as listed under “Assessment (Art der Leistungskontrolle)” are a minimum requirement for passing this course.
Grading is based on a “continuous assessment of coursework” (“Prüfungsimmanente Lehrveranstaltung”). Repetition of individual assessment criteria, therefore, is not possible. The “Presentation on Research Topic” is individual and is part of a panel with a global topic, and counts as a minimum requirement (“Mindestanforderung). The “Submission of the Research Proposal” also counts as a minimum requirement. Therefore, students must pass both of these assignments in order to achieve an overall pass for the course. Deadlines for submission of both tasks, via Moodle, are as follow:
- Presentation on Research Topic: April 16, 22:00 (.pdf or PowerPoint document),
- Submission Research Proposal: May 21, 22:00 (Word-processor file).
The lecturer will provide additional details on these and the other assessment criteria during the first session of this Exercise Course, on May 03, 2020.Active participation in discussions and class exercises is encouraged and expected from students. Bearing this in mind, regular attendance is mandatory with the following penalties applied to students who miss class sessions:
- Final grade will not be affected if the student is absent up to three class sessions (missing a double session will result in two absences)
- Four absences will result in the final grade being reduced by one full grade; fives absences will be reduced by two full grades. Students with more than five absences will fail the course.
*Please note: To ensure a smooth proceeding of the seminar, please be on time. Students who are late by more than 10 minutes will not be able to sign the attendance list.
**Update of course attendance:
**Attendance will be taken at the end of each Jitsi session (videoconference), when these take place. Otherwise, attendance will be taken based on the contributions to the forum (Moodleoverflow) for each session.
