Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this course is to learn the usage of Hanjaeo (Sino-Korean words) in the Korean language and the correct reading and writing of the Hanja (Chinese script).

Assessment and permitted materials

Class participation, regular homework assignments and two written tests

In principle, no aids are permitted during the tests.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance (max. 3 missed sessions), the submission of at least 80% of the assigned homework as well as the passing of the examinations are required in order to be considered for completion of this course.
An exam is considered as passed when at least 60% of the max. achievable points is obtained.
Once all above prerequisites are met the final grade will be derived from the result of the passed exams with following weightings:
1. Test (40%)
2. Test (60%)

And awarded according to below chart:

> 91 % (1)
81~90 % (2)
71~80 % (3)
61~70 % (4)
<= 60 % (5)

Note: The percentage weighting in Moodle is non-relevant and purely technical.
Further: Each examination (test) can only be taken once per semester. This includes even the case where a test or exam is not passed (with at least 60% of the max. achievable points.)

A catch-up-examination is granted for medical or technical reasons. In the earlier case the submission of a medical certificate is required. For the later, the responsibility to report any technical issues holding back a student to take the online examination regularly lies with the student. The technical issue is to be reported to the lecturer immediately once discovered.

All catch-up exams will take place on site or online via BBB under supervision of the lecturer.
