Aims, contents and method of the course
This course investigates the period between the death of Mao Zedong (1976) and the 3rd Plenum of the 11th CC of the CCP (1978). It focuses on persons and institutions that were part of the changes taking place in those years and excerted their influence on the transition from revolutionary China to a China of reforms.
Assessment and permitted materials
paper (10-15 pages); presentations; discussion.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Chronological account of the most significant events of the years investigated and presentation of the most influential persons involved as well as the institutions connected to them; getting to know theoretical approaches to the importance and interrelatedness of personal behaviour and institutional mechanisms.
Examination topics
Introductory and complementary comments by the lecturer; presentations by the participants; discussion.
