Learning outcomes:
Targeted training of reading comprehension skills: This encompasses the enlargement of vocabulary and the receptive knowledge of Chinese characters (mainly simplified, but also also traditional characters to a minor extent), since this is the basis for understanding texts in the target language. Another goal is to achieve the ability to analyze and hence understand more complex sentences and paragraphs in order to quickly grasp the gist of texts. In addition, students’ awareness of the difference between oral and written utterances will be promoted and we will practice structures typical of more formal written texts.
We will practice various reading strategies to achieve competence in the areas of "skimming, "scanning", and "reading for detail".
As term-project, we will also read a short authentic novel (collaborative group work), which not only contains useful every-day vocabulary, but also gives the students an interesting insight into cultural differences between China and Europe.

Contents:
A selection of the texts in chapter 40 to 60.
Additional authentic material.
A short novel.

Method:
Reading and analysis of the texts (individual work, classroom work, group work).
Exercises for various reading strategies.
Exercises for enlarging the vocabulary and improving knowledge of grammatical structures.

Ziele:
Das Lehrziel dieser LV liegt in der gezielten Schulung der Fertigkeit des Leseverstehens sowie der Erweiterung des Wortschatzes und des rezeptiven Schriftzeichenschatzes. Weiters gehört dazu die Fähigkeit zur syntaktischen Analyse komplexer Sätze, um einen unbekannten Text möglichst rasch global verstehen zu können. Inhalte:
Eine Auswahl aus den Lektionstexten (s. "LV-Literatur"), sowie zusätzliches Material (Downloads werden auf der eLearning-Plattform Moodle zur Verfügung stehen).
Methode:
Erarbeiten der Texte im Plenum und in Kleingruppen, Übungen zu den verschiedenen Lesestrategien, Wortschatz- und Satzstruktur-Übungen.
Anmerkung: Aufgrund aktueller Entwicklungen findet bis 30.06.2020 kein Präsenzunterricht statt. Die Methoden zum Erreichen des Lehrziels wurden dementsprechend angepasst (Home-Learning). Alle Informationen hierzu werden laufend auf Moodle aktualisiert.
