Aims, contents and method of the course

On the knowledge foundation of the basic course (Modern Chinese 1 and Schreibpraktikum 1b), writing and reading will be continued and improved in this course. The characters, the vocabulary and the application of grammar structures are developed towards a higher level. Furthermore, the course is particularly focused on writing skills, to expand them and to be more structured. In this course, traditional characters will be introduced too.

Assessment and permitted materials

Class exercises, performance, and homework: 20%,
Mid-term exam: 40%,
Final exam: 40%.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The students are expected to be capable of producing pieces of writing such as: descriptive writings, dairies, storytelling, letter replying etc. Meanwhile, the students will be asked to experience traditional character through handwriting and typing.

Examination topics

The topics will be related to China and Chinese culture, politics and cultural knowledge in the context of language usage.
· Weekly creation of own texts
· Discussion and reflection on ones own created texts in the course
