Abmeldung: Eine Abmeldung ist bis 17. Oktober 2016 möglich. Die Abmeldung muss im univis-System UND schriftlich per e-mail an christina.bazant-kimmel@univie.ac.at erfolgen! Wenn bis zum oben genannten Termin keine Abmeldung erfolgt ist, dann wird die Leistung in diesem Kurs beurteilt.
Für eine positive Beurteilung dürfen Sie nicht mehr als 3 Mal den Unterricht versäumen.

Homework, participation: 10% ("Homework, participation" includes the activities provided on Moodle, as e.g. discussion forum, WIKI, GLOSSARIES etc.).

Confirmation of the online registration: The enrollee has to confirm his/her participation in the course in the 1st class. This must be done through personal presence. If the enrollee is unable to attend, s/he must excuse the absence before the first unit by e-mail. Otherwise, s/he will be promptly deregistered from the course.
Deregistration: A deregistration is possible until 21.10.2018. The deregistration must be done in the univis system AND in writing by e-mail to the lecturer! If no cancellation has taken place by the above date then the performance will be assessed in this course.
For a positive assessment, you must not miss the lesson more than 3 times.

Aims, contents and method of the course
We will practice various reading strategies to achieve competence in the areas of "skimming, "scanning", and "reading for detail".
As term-project, we will also read a short authentic novel (collaborative group work), which not only contains useful every-day vocabulary, but also gives the students an interesting insight into cultural differences between China and Europe.
Reading and analysis of the texts (classroom work, group work).
Exercises for various reading strategies (esp. dealing with new authentic texts; intelligent guessing).
Exercises for enlarging the vocabulary and improving knowledge of grammatical structures.

We will practice various reading strategies to achieve competence in the areas of "skimming, "scanning", and "reading for detail".You will read a story outside of class which is written in simple Chinese and reinforces the basic vocabulary by using it repetitively and thus should enable you to actually enjoy reading an entire story in Chinese.

Exercises for enlarging the vocabulary and improving knowledge of grammatical structures.
