You have to confirm your registration by attending the first class. If you are unable to attend the first class you have to confirm your registration per e-mail not later than the date of the first class, otherwise you will be removed from the list.
You can de-register until the end of the deregistration period (in the uspace system AND in writing by e-mail to christina.bazant-kimmel@univie.ac.at). If you have not de-registered within the official deregistration period, you will receive a mark.
For a passing grade, you may not miss class more than three times. Special cases must be discussed with the teacher.

Aims, contents and method of the course
We will practice various reading strategies to achieve competence in the areas of "skimming, "scanning", and "reading for detail".You will read a story outside of class which is written in simple Chinese and reinforces the basic vocabulary by using it repetitively and thus should enable you to actually enjoy reading an entire story in Chinese.
Reading and analysis of the texts (classroom work, group work).
Exercises for various reading strategies (esp. dealing with new authentic texts; intelligent guessing).
Exercises for enlarging the vocabulary and improving knowledge of grammatical structures
