Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

n this course you will be supported in planning and carrying out your doctoral thesis. The colloquium consists of two parts.

A part of the colloquium is devoted to the discussion of theoretical and methodological basic literature. In particular, new developments, for example in the digital humanities, are dealt with and the theories and methods presented are critically assessed with regard to their usefulness for sinological questions.

The main part of the colloquium is the discussion of the individual doctoral theses. Depending on the progress of the work, the participants of the colloquium submit introductions, theoretical, methodological or empirical chapters, which are presented and discussed in the colloquium. On the basis of the submitted chapters and a short presentation of the contents, the stringency of the argumentation, coverage of the research field, methodological approach and fit to the overall concept of the work are discussed. For this purpose, all participants write a peer review for a work related to their own research topic.
