Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Given the illiberal political developments in China over the last decade, it has become an imperative for us to understand contemporary Chinese politics and the Chinese Communist Party's rule from a historical perspective. This course surveys the main events of the centennial history of the Chinese Communist Party from 1921 to 2021. The course will follow a loosely arranged chronological order and at the end of the course, students shall be familiar with the main historical events of the Party, the way it is organized as well as its modes of operation.

There will be no separate exams.
The workload of this course is moderate.
The class will NOT admit new students after its 3rd session.
You will not be eligible for the exam if you miss 3 sessions. Absence from class needs to be announced beforehand. Each absence will lead to a discount of your attendance score.
