Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The Tocharian branch of Indo-European was discovered during the Turfan expeditions at the end of the 19th century. The texts that survived contain almost exclusively Buddhist literature. The class will give an overview of the grammatical structure of the two languages Tocharian A and B with a focus on the diachronic perspective; in addition, we will read a simple text.
Assessment and permitted materials
