Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
Short presentations, project presentation, small programming exercises in Plotly.JS and/or P5, study or project (group work 1-3 persons). Regular presence (especially at your own presentation) is required. More than three absences will result in exclusion from the course.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Bachelor's degree, participants should have a basic understanding of empirical work as well as creative curiosity, as well as a sense of experimentation and an affinity for technology (nerds and geeks are welcome).

The aim of the seminar is to get to know the different devices, methods and possibilities of Systematic Musicology and to use them for your own (master) projects and ideas. In addition to the devices available at the Institute and the MediaLab (among others to choose from: biodata loggers, EEG headbands, audiometers, voice analysis, 3D/360° cameras, 3D scanners, high-speed camera, acoustic camera, eye tracking, motion capture, microphones, etc.), the main focus here is on learning a simple web-based scripting language (P5), which can be used to quickly program interactive audio/video and/or machine learning applications. An introduction to data collection using LimeSurvey and/or SoSci-Survey as well as the department's own tools (SINES-Tools: motion tracking, capturing facial expressions and emotions, capturing audio features, https://sinestools.univie.ac.at ), their statistical analysis using JASP and their web-based visualization using Plotly.js will provide you with inspiring tools and starting points for planning and implementing your master project.
