In this course we will examine diverse examples of literature and music and try to find out how deeply and in what form the idea of improvisation has left its mark on them.
We will discuss examples from (but not limited to) French Surrealism, Dadaism, Beat Literature, the Imagists, Freestyle Hip Hop, No-Wave and the American Post-Punk/Indie scene of the 1980s.
