Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims at providing students with basic skills in various methods of Applied Linguistics: participant observation, development of questionnaires, interview, group discussions, testing (matched guise technique, use of tests in language teaching, screenings etc.), methods of text analysis.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance, presentation of own project during the course and term paper.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Acquisition of skills in applying basic methods of Applied Linguistics and application of these skills in an empirical project.

Examination topics

Input by lecturers; students are required to plan, perform, and document a small project in which selected methods of data gathering techniques and data analysis methods are applied; writing of a research journal.
