Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The verbal system of the Celtic languages, best preserved in Old Irish, has many different categories: there are various different stems, often with two tenses, which makes a synopsis quite difficult. In this course, all categories of the verbal system will be treated and traced back to their origin in Indo-European. Thus, the verbal system will eventually become transparent. - The course is geared towards students of Indo-European and Celtic. Knowledge of Celtic languages is no precondition (but will be helpful), and knowledge of the Indo-European verbal system is not expected either.
