Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In this course we will discuss particular philosophical topics and key concepts which were important for the modernist novel and how they were creatively adapted by the modernists. Among these topics are the theories of time, memory and the stream of consciousness developed by Henri Bergson and Williams James and used by Proust in his "Recherche...", by Joyce in "Ulysses", Virginia Woolf etc. A further topic will be Primitivism and the unconsciousness.
Assessment and permitted materials
Regelmäßige Anwesenheit, Mitarbeit, Protokolle, Referate, Hausarbeiten.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Die Studierenden sollen mit der engen unnd wechselseitigen Verbindung von philosophischer Theorie und Roman im Modernismus vertraut gemnacht werden.
Examination topics
Kurze Ausführungen des LV-Leiters, Erarbeitung der Primär- und Sekundärtexte in Referaten und in gemeinsamer Lektüre.
