Aims, contents and method of the course

An overview of the dialects of Breton, including their phonological/morphological/syntactical/typological peculiarities, their literature, socio-linguistic state and history.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The main aim of the course is to get students acquainted with the dialectology of Breton. Relevant linguistic concepts and terminology will be discussed as well.

Examination topics

Basically a lecture supported through Power Point. Audio-visual material (interviews with speakers of different dialects...) will be presented as well. There will also be discussion and some practical exercises (IPA transcription and the like).
