Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will focus on the older Celtic languages, especially the Continental Celtic languages. The attested languages and their structure, as well as the historical relationship of the languages to one another, will all be detailed here. In addition, the Celtic languages of the British Isles will also be situated in this milieu.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The goals of this course are to familiarize students with the Celtic languages and their synchronic and diachronic characteristics. Additionally, students should, after successful completion of the course, be able to understand simple lectures on Celtic linguistic topics.

Examination topics

Lecture will be the primary method of instruction, but a certain amount of discussion is expected. Students should be prepared to think about and give answers to questions posed by the instructor.
