Aims, contents and method of the course

Content: This lecture deals with the main areas of linguistic phonetics, in particular articulatory and acoustic phonetics. In phonology it will be concerned with the most important prerequisites for understanding the phonological literature since (about) 1968.
Methods: Upfront (ex cathedra) teaching with handouts etc. on Moodle.
Aims: This lecture intends to convey the basic knowledge that is necessary for any more advanced study of phonetics and phonology. In addition, the participants are to be familiarised with the transcription of human language and with basics of acoustic analysis software.
