Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Modern Irish will be taught as a modern spoken language, with a special emphasis on communication, without neglecting the structures of the language. Previous knowledge required. Students should have already completed Irish 4 (or to be able to show that they have the basic structural knowledge of the language necessary for this course).

Assessment and permitted materials

The ability to reproduce the subject matter worked on during the lessons in written and oral form and also to explain relevant contents.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The goal is to give linguists and those interested in things celtic a basic understanding of a modern celtic minority language and its structure.

Examination topics

Students will learn more complicated forms of communication in the Irish language and will analyse its structures. It is expected that students can already cope with short texts which include various structures and tenses.
