Aims, contents and method of the course

In addition, students will receive training in working with bibliographical databases and in creating topic-specific bibliographies.

Assessment and permitted materials

The following student activities are part of the examination: (1) Participation in a thematic group (as presenter or as moderator in a group discussion), participation in the first session is indispensible to organize this; (2) submission of 3–4 question in advance of each thematic session, at least questions to five topics are mandatory for a positive examination; (3) participation in group discussions; (4) submission of a topic-related bibliography with ca. 30–35 items.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

This course advances and complements selected topics which have been introduced in the lecture "Introduction to Applied Linguistics" in winter term. Positive absolvation of that lecture is thus a precondition for participation in this course.
Each of the four mandatory activities must be examined at least 50% positive. Regular participation is presumed (maximally two absences are tolerated).
