Aims, contents and method of the course

Overview of the history and development of the Indo-European languages.
Outline of the main featuresof the branches of Indo-European (Anatolian, Tocharian, Indic, Iranian, Albanian, Armenian, Greek, Italic, Celtic, Germanic, Baltic, Slavic).
Assessment of historical pivots in linguistic study and methodological principles of comparative linguistics.
Preparation for advanced and specialised courses in particular Indo-European languages and main topics of Indo-European grammar.

Written exam (multiple choice + free text question), there are four possible dates for taking the exam.
