Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims at supplying participants (=prospective high-school teachers) with procedures and knowledge which are relevant for the teaching of factual, argumentative writing that is necessary for Austrian high school students who are required to write a „pre-scholarly paper” in order to graduate from high-school from 2014 on. The course will present different didactic aspects of the teaching of academic writing and will also provide linguistic insights from writing research. The different aspects will not only be presented in class but their different approaches to the teaching of writing will also be exercised during the course. The course will be continued in the next summer semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Strengthening of participants‘ own academic writing competence/ providing standards for the development of assessment criteria/ providing knowledge on writing processes and products/ increasing of methodological competence/ providing the competence to develop own writing exercises/ self reflection/ conception of study materials for students
