Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Die komplexen (multilingualen und heteroglossischen) sprachlichen und semiotischen Spuren, die sich im (vor allem städtischen) Raum in Form von Beschilderungen, Plakaten, Graffiti, Stickern, Flyern usw. finden, haben in der Angewandten Sprachwissenschaft in den letzten Jahren -- unter der Bezeichnung Linguistic oder Semiotic Landscapes -- großes Interesse gefunden. In diesem Seminar beschäftigen wir uns mit verschiedenen Varianten dieser Forschung, wir werden vor allem aber auch selbst ethnografisch tätig werden und in Form kleiner Exkursionen Teile der sprachlichen und semiotischen Landschaft Wiens erkunden.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Kenntnisse der Theorien und Methoden der Linguistic- und Semiotic-Landscape-Forschung, Fertigkeiten in der Analyse multimodaler Kommunikation im urbanen Raum

Vortrag, Referate, Gemeinsame Lektüre und Diskussion theoretischer Texte, Stadtexkursionen, Analysen im Plenum und in Arbeitsgruppen
