Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This class on the morphology of the Proto-Indo-European noun will be mostly dedicated to the study of derivational morphology, with examples taken mostly from Vedic Sanskrit, Ancient Greek, and Latin. It is meant above all for students having already some basic knowledge about the field, especially students who already attended a class on that subject before.

Assessment and permitted materials

According to the preferences of the audience.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The aim of this class is to make students acquainted with, and even more knowledgeable about the basic facts of Proto-Indo-European nominal derivation and inflection, and thus to give a basic grounding for attending (even more) advanced classes.

Examination topics

Methods of the Vienna School of Indo-European Linguistics as founded by Jochem Schindler.
