Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Modern Irish will be taught as a modern spoken language with a special emphasis on communication, without neglecting the structure of the language. Previous knowledge is required. Students should have completed the Irish course "Neuirisch 3" already.
Exam criteria: The ability to reproduce the subject matter worked on during the lessons in written and oral form and also to explain relevant contexts.

Assessment and permitted materials

Attendance and participation makes up one part of the mark. In addition, there is a written and oral examination at the end of the semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students will learn simple forms of communication in the Irish language and will analyse its structures. Basic knowledge of structure and tenses will be completed. Students will practise general sintuations.
The goal is to give linguists and those interested in the celtic culture the basis of a modern living (but minority) celtic language.

Examination topics

The four main aspects of the learning process of a language, listening, speaking, reading and writing will be used in this course to varying degrees. Students will learn more complicated forms of communication in the Irish language and will analyse its structures. It is expected that students can already cope with short texts which include various structures and tenses.
