Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This is an advanced seminar in intensional semantics, specifically temporal semantics. We will read selected texts and aim to get a solid understanding of the semantic basics, as well as a certain cross-linguistic perspective. Participants need a solid background in formal semantics (as for example in Heim & Kratzer 1998 Semantics in Generative Grammar) or quantified logic.

Assessment and permitted materials

attendance, active participation, regular homeworks, presentation

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Regular attendance (no more than 2 missed classes, unless there is a documented emergency), submission of all homeworks (with extended deadlines in case of documented emergencies), one presentation. The average grade of all homeworks must be 4 or better, oral participation accounts for 20% of the final course grade.
